Carlin announces Oliver Gray promotion to Formula 3
British racing team Carlin have announced that Oliver Gray, Vice-Champion of the F4 British Championship in 2020, will move up to FIA Formula 3 for the 2023 season. The 17-year-old racer has been part of the Williams Driver Academy since his appearance in Italian F4 last year and will continue with them.
“I’m super excited to be making the step up to F3 next season,” said Gray. “I’m indebted to my sponsors and for the belief that Williams and Carlin have shown in me.” He added that he hopes this year will be a two-year programme so he can learn as much as possible about the car, circuits and tyres.
Prior to his debut in single seaters in 2021, Gray had success karting on both UK and European levels. In 2019 he achieved titles at Motorsport UK Kartmasters and British Karting Championship X30 Junior level, along with Vice Champion honours at IAME Euro Series.
